What will you need?
Epoxy resin VEROPAL ART 430, balances, hot-gun, nitrile gloves, plastic cup for mixing, mixing spatula, silicon mold, MyResin alcohol dyes with various color shades
Warning! Work in a well-ventilated area and wear gloves. Level the work table so that the resin is at the same level everywhere after pouring it into the mold.
Veropal ART 430
Clear, thick, UV-resistant epoxy resin suitable for the production of epoxy paintings, geode art, jewelry and casting surface layers around 1-5 mm.
Alcohol dyes
MyResin Alcohol Pigments are quality alcohol dyes compatible with epoxy resins. When mixed with Veropal resins, they form a colored completely transparent casting, with a very small amount being sufficient to dye the resin. Intensity of saturation is controlled by the amount of added solution. They are used mainly for epoxy paintings, geode art, pre-casting and resin tinting.Nitrile gloves
Thick disposable nitrile gloves for hand protection for work with epoxy resin. They offer an optimal combination of comfort and protection of the skin of the hands.
Transparent mixing cup
Transparent cup for mixing and pouring of resins.Procedure step by step:
1. Weigh the exact amount Veropal ART 430 compound A into the cup and add exact amount of compound B. Weight ratio A : B is 100 : 30.
2. Mix both components well for at least 3 minutes. Do not stir quickly to avoid introducing air bubbles into the mixture. While mixing, scrape the bottom and sides of the cup for the correct A : B ratio.
3. Pour the resin and hardener mixture into the mold. Lightly blow the surface of the poured resin with a heat gun. Keep moving the gun, don't stay in one place. The mixed bubbles will burst.
CAUTION: if you use a flame gun or any open flame to eliminate bubbles, do not use it after adding alcohol ink, which is highly flammable. There is a risk of igniting the resin. If you have a vacuum chamber or a desiccator, you don't need to use a heat gun and simply vacuum the mold with the resin shortly.
4. Test the viscosity of the resin by placing a wooden stick and watching the resin flow from the stick. If it flows slowly, the resin is ready. If it flows quickly, wait a few minutes. Drop white alcohol dye into the resin. If it expands immediately, the resin is still quite liquid. If it doesn't expand too much, the resin starts to crosslink and it's ready.
5. Add 5-10 drops of another color of MyResin alcohol dye (e.g. dye) to the surface of the dripped white drops.
6. Add 10-20 drops of e.g. gold MyResin alcohol dye to the pink/white drops from steps 4 and 5 and to the rest of the resin.
7. Drip 10-15 drops on the surface of previous drops (e.g. pink) or five drops of white, pink and red each.
8. Let harden.
9. After curing, peel the silicone mold from the resin Petri dish created VEROPAL ART 430.
